EDON expresses its solidarity with the people and youth of India currently facing the worst health crisis.
The COVID-19 pandemic has not only spread to catastrophic levels but so far, the epidemiological picture seems to be deteriorating. The Government of India is burdened with increased responsibilities as its handling so far worsens the situation. The lack of hospital beds and ventilators makes the situation explosive.
The tragic situation in which India finds itself at the moment proves the inadequacy and collapse of a system which puts the profits of large corporations above human lives. It proves once again that when health is treated as a commodity and not as a public good, humanity is inevitably driven to barbarism.
As EDON we send a message of solidarity to the people of India. For our part, we express our full support and clearly state that we are taking a stand, once again, next to those whom the system "forgets" to take care of. Because health, of course, is a class issue.
