Statement on the neo-fascist attacks against the Communist Youth Union of Yugoslavia
EDON expresses its full solidarity with the leadership and members of the Communist Youth Union of Yugoslavia (SKOJ) and the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia (NKPJ) that once again were the target of new - fascist organizations attacks.
The recent attacks (11/10) in Belgrade and Novi On, by the neo-fascist “Serbian Action", aimed Alexandar Djenic (first General Secretary of SKOJ and member of the Central Secretariat NKPJ) illustrate the rise of fascism and neo-Nazism that is happening recently in several European countries.
It is unacceptable that in his effort for self-defense, Alexandar Djenic was arrested by the police authorities of Serbia, and as a result he will be called to the Court to be accused for a criminal offense. This support and tolerance of neo-fascism by the competent authorities, give personality and territory in the development of neo-fascist and neo-Nazi organizations.
We agree and fully support the position of NKPJ and SKOJ in their demand for the rejection of the charges against Alexandar Djenic and we demand an immediate end to the persecution. At the same time we express our solidarity to Alexandar Djenic for the difficult and stressful moments he is experiencing.
We are sure, that the anti-communist attacks will not stop the fight of Communists of Yugoslavia.
